The Many Ways to Use a Ductless Mini-Split
Ductless mini-split air conditioners fill a much-needed niche in residential and commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning applications. There are several ways that ductless mini-split ACs can be used in your Las Cruces, New Mexico home or office instead of, or as a complement to, ducted systems. The certified technicians at Sun City Plumbing & Heating can help you select a system appropriate for your unique situation.
Versatility of Ductless Mini-Splits
Ductless mini-splits are versatile because, as their name suggests, no ducts are required to produce conditioned air. Some are heat pumps, providing both heating and cooling. Others are air conditioners only. They can provide conditioned air in a single room, be used to augment an existing ducted system or be part of a zoned system. In addition, they are energy-efficient, easy to install and quiet to operate.
Add-Ons and Renovations
If you add a room that is difficult to connect to an existing ducted system or live in an older home that does not have a ducted HVAC system, ductless ACs and heat pumps offer a great solution. Depending on the brand and model, up to eight interior units can run on one compressor. Each unit has its own climate controls. They operate independently, cooling a single room or zone instead of an entire house. When a room is not being used, the unit can be turned off.
Auxiliary Heating and Cooling
You may have rooms in your home or office that are connected to a ducted system but are not comfortable no matter how much you adjust the thermostat. You may experience cold or hot air pockets or a feeling of stuffiness. Ductless units can be used to even out temperatures in hard-to-cool rooms or between floors. You can set the temperature and run the unit with the whole-house system for better comfort.
