3 Signs Your HVAC Blower Isn’t Working Correctly
Ensuring that the HVAC system in your Las Cruces, New Mexico, home is functioning properly is crucial to maintaining your home’s comfort as well as its energy efficiency. A vital component is your HVAC system’s blower, and knowing when it is having issues will allow you to address the problem before it results in a system breakdown. If you notice any of the following signs, it may be time to have your blower checked out.
Unusual Noises
One of the first signs that you may notice when your blower motor is beginning to fail is strange noises when your HVAC system is running. Loud, metal scraping noises are often a sign that the blower motor wheel has a major issue that you should call a professional to address. Likewise, if you notice a high-pitched squealing, it could be a sign that the blower is malfunctioning. In any case, unusual noises should prompt a call to your HVAC technician.
Slow Motor Blades
You might notice that, when you turn on your HVAC system, the blades on the blower are moving slowly. Even worse, maybe you can hear the compressor turn on and the blades aren’t moving at all. It could be as simple as the blades needing more lubricant, or maybe the capacitor has failed. Either way, you need to call a professional to help with repairs.
HVAC Blower Overheating
When your blower motor isn’t functioning properly it will become hot. A hot motor is a sign that your entire system is overheating and may be on the verge of a breakdown. If your system is more than 10 years old, this could be a sign that it is time to for a system replacement. If the system is newer, you will want to contact an HVAC technician to identify the problem and rectify it.
